St. Mary Athletics Update

Hoops Season-Ending Updates

Varsity Girls Heading to Playoffs!

Coach Gaynor and her Lady Mountaineers have once again made it to the CYO playoffs. Like Coach Izzo and his Spartans, Coach Gaynor has made a habit of getting her teams to the post-season tournament year after year. Please come out and support the Lady Mountaineers as they play St. Regis this Saturday at 12:30 at the Our Lady of the Lakes gym.

JV Girls Teams Finish an Amazing Season

Coach Paul Gaynor and his young Lady Mountaineers have just finished a perfect season! These young hoopsters have piled up the wins and trophies. This past Saturday they finished their CYO regular season undefeated 10-0 by beaing second place Our Lady of the Lakes (8-2). That was just the icing on the cake, as these amazing hoopsters won their Thanksgiving and two Christmas tournaments.

Not to be outdone was Coach Chuch and his JV girls finishing CYO play undefeated and winning both Thanksgiving and Christmas tournaments. Both teams will play in post season tournaments.

Finally, but not least, was Coach Alexis' 5th Grade group of hoopsters! These girls played very exciting ball and finished tied for second place!!!

CYO Hoops Review

Varsity Boys I team led by Coach Fischer had a very good season finishing 5-5 in the regular season. They played a very tough non-conference finishing 9-11 overall. Varsity Boys II Coach Davis' team just missed the playoffs and played very competitive all year. Coach Hartwig's team played several nail biters and improved all year! Coach Ludeman took his band of 5th Grades to a 10+ win season. Coach Farcassa/Roskopp finished on a high note dominating the St. Paul Lakers and improving every game! On the girls side, Coach Gaynor's second team played some very good basketball and was competitive all year.

Bowling Team Knocks Down the Competition

Our Varsity Bowling team had another great year by winning their division and capturing a playoff berth. Coach Forsythe continued his momentum from last year and knocked down the competition. Great job!

Soccer Playoff Update

Coach Polk's girls had a good run going into this year's semi-finals after upsetting the the Knights from Royal Oak Shrine 1-0. The Lady Mountaineers then battled the Lakers from St. Paul. The game was very close until the Lakers made a fine corner kick and scored the first goal of the game well into the second half. The game ended seeing the Mountaineers lose 2-1, but it could not damped a great season! The Lady Mountaineers scored 50 goals and only gave up 5 goals the entire season! Coach Polk and his staff did not finish with another CYO banner, but they sure had an outstanding season and we should all be very proud of the players and coaches for a remarkable season. Great job girls!!!
